Upcoming student holidays
School will be dismissed at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, February 8, for staff development.
Spring Break is March 12 through 16.
Reading can be rewarding and it increases your knowledge as well as vocabulary. By reading daily it will help your child to improve in school. Here are a few tips to encourage your child to read:
- Encourage your child to choose books that he/she is interested in.
- While your child is reading you read as well. Let your child see that you enjoy reading.
- Allow your child to read to you. Once they have finished their book discussed it with them as well as ask questions to make sure they understand what they have read.
- Take your child to the public library. Make it a fun trip and explore all the different sections in the public library.
- Find a book that you and your child may be interested in and read it to them.
Make reading fun and exciting for your child and while this is happening they are improving in so many other areas of their lives.

Breakfast in the classroom
Lufkin ISD is offering all students breakfast free of any charge. Parents we encourage you to have your child at school by 7:45 AM so that they will be able to participate in this worthwhile program.
